Dr Lorin Lakasing MD FRCOG
This highly respected obstetrician has been delivering babies for over 25 years. She has been a NHS Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine at St Mary's Hospital since 2004 and has been providing private pregnancy care at the Lindo Wing for over 15 years.
Lorin has worked in several London Teaching Hospitals and is experienced in managing both normal and complex pregnancies. She has contributed to local and national clinical guidelines and regularly attends meetings relating to the national antenatal screening programme. She has a long standing interest in medical education and regularly gives lectures and examines at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. She has written research papers predominantly in the field of placental disease, and regularly reviews manuscripts submitted for publication to a range of medical journals including the British Medical Journal and Prenatal Diagnosis. Her particular interest is in the field of medical litigation and she often provides medico-legal reports in cases of adverse perinatal outcome or medical malpractice. She is also involved in independent reviews into Maternity Service provision for other hospitals.
Lorin is well travelled and has been a Clinical Fellow in South Africa as well as working at the University of Aahus, Denmark and at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia. She has worked on a Women's Education project in Sri Lanka and helps to raise funds for a range of medical charities involved in Women's Healthcare
When it comes to working with patients, Lorin believes in transparency, informed choice and an individualised approach to care because "no two pregnancies are the same". Her record on safety and patient satisfaction is exemplary and the majority of private patients book via personal recommendation.
